AI-enabled tax features for sole traders and the self-employed
Story
The challenge
Earnr, a finance and tax app for sole traders and the self-employed, wanted to introduce AI-enabled financial planning features. The catch: designing features that weren't technically feasible – yet.
The solution
I designed, prototyped and tested two AI features. AutoSort categorises income and expenses as they happen. TaxPot recommends personalised savings and sets up monthly direct debits towards tax bills.
The impact
20% of users filed their tax earlier than the previous year, after both features launched in April 2024 at the start of the tax filing period.
